The Authentic Dal Dhokli ðŸ˜›

Instructions:

1. Prepare Dal:

- Wash the toor dal in running water till the water runs clear.

- Add the dal, turmeric powder, salt, and water in a pressure cooker. Cook for about 3-4 whistles till the dal becomes soft. If using a vessel, it may take about 30-40 minutes.

- Keep in mind that the dal should be a little thin as it will thicken automatically when we cook it after adding the dhokli.

2. Prepare Dhokli:

- In a mixing bowl, combine the wheat flour, turmeric powder, red chili powder and salt. Add oil and mix well.

- Add water slowly and knead into a smooth, stiff dough. Cover it and keep aside for 15-20 minutes.

- After kneading the dough, divide the dough into small balls and roll each ball into a thin round shape (about the size of a small tortilla). You can also make smaller pieces by cutting the rolled dough into diamond or square shapes.

3. Add Dhokli to Daal:

- Once the dal is cooked, stir it till it becomes smooth and bring it to a gentle boil.

- Add the dhokli pieces to the boiling dal and cook for about 10-15 minutes until they are cooked through. Stir gently to avoid the pieces from breaking.

4. Tadka:

- Heat ghee or oil in a small pan. Add cumin seeds and let them crackle. Add green chillies and ginger-garlic paste and saute till they become fragrant.

- Pour this tempering over the cooked dal and dhokli mixture.

5. Final Step:

- Add jaggery or sugar for some sweetness if desired and mix well.

- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and lemon juice.

6. Serve:

- Serve hot with chapati or rice and enjoy your delicious dal dhokli!

Feel free to vary the spices and ingredients as per your preference.
