Ingredients:

 1 cup moong dal (lentils)

 2 cups rice flour

 2 tablespoons butter (softened)

 1 teaspoon cumin seeds

 1/2 teaspoon asafoetida

 1 teaspoon red chili powder

 1 teaspoon sesame seeds

 Salt to taste

 Water as needed

 Oil for deep frying


 Crispy & Tasty Moong Dal Chakli Recipe 



Instructions:


1. Prepare the moong dal:

 Wash and soak the moong dal for 2-3 hours. Drain the water.

 Cook the dal in fresh water until soft, but not mushy. Drain the water and let it cool.

 Grind the cooked dal into a smooth paste without adding too much water.


2. Knead the dough:

 In a large mixing bowl, add the rice flour, mung bean paste, cumin seeds, sesame seeds, red chili powder, asafoetida, butter, and salt.

 Mix well. Gradually add water to knead a smooth, soft, but not sticky dough.


3. Shape the chakli:

 Grease a chakli/murukku maker and use the star-shaped nozzle.

 Fill the maker with the dough.

 Press it into a spiral shape on small pieces of parchment paper or a plate.


4. Fry the chakli:

 Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat.

 Gently drop the chakli into the hot oil.

 Fry until golden and crispy, turning occasionally.

 Remove and drain on a paper towel.


5. Cool and store:

 Let the chakli cool completely.

 Store in an airtight container.


Tips:

 Don't overcrowd the pan when frying.

 You can also add a pinch of carom seeds for added flavor.
