Instructions:

- In a saucepan, bring the milk to a boil over medium heat. Keep stirring occasionally to prevent it from burning.

- Once it boils, lower the heat and let it simmer until it thickens slightly. This should take around 10-15 minutes.

- Add sugar, khoya, cardamom powder and saffron (if using). Mix well until all the ingredients are well combined. Remove from heat and keep aside.

- Cut the bread slices diagonally into quarter pieces (you can also cut them into triangles).

- Heat ghee in a pan over medium heat. Once hot, add the bread pieces and fry them on both sides until golden brown. Remove and place them on paper towels to absorb excess ghee.

- In a serving dish, place the fried bread pieces in a single layer.

- Pour the milk mixture evenly over the bread pieces, making sure they absorb the milk. You can also make it flaky if you prefer more than one layer of bread.

- Keep the bread aside for a few minutes to absorb the milk mixture.

- Garnish with chopped nuts and if desired, garnish with silver or gold leaf for a royal touch.

- Serve hot or cold as per your choice.

Enjoy your delicious Shahi Tukda! This is a delicious and mouth-watering dessert that is perfect for special occasions.
