Moong Dal Khichdi Recipe is a very simple Indian dish made by cooking rice and moong dal in a pressure cooker. You do not need many ingredients to make Moong Dal Khichdi Recipe at home, just rice, moong dal, turmeric powder and salt. This khichdi is the best option for small children, sick people and the elderly as it is easily digested. If ever you feel like eating something light, you can eat this khichdi with curd and papad. Ingredients
To pressure cook:
½ cup rice
½ cup moong dal
1 tsp ghee
¼ tsp turmeric
½ tsp salt
3¼ cups water
Other ingredients:
2 tbsp ghee
1 tsp cumin seeds
A few curry leaves
Pinch of cumin seeds
1 onion, finely chopped
1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
1 tomato, finely chopped
¼ tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp chili powder
½ tsp garam masala
Tasty salt
1 cup water
2 tbsp coriander leaves, finely chopped

Instructions
- First, in a large bowl, soak ½ cup rice and ½ cup moong dal for 10 minutes. Heat 1 tsp ghee in a pressure cooker and add the soaked dal and rice. Saute everything well. Now add ¼ tsp turmeric, ½ tsp salt, and 3¼ cups water. Mix well. Cover and pressure cook for 2 whistles. Now it is time for tempering.
- Heat 2 tbsp ghee in a large pan. Add 1 tsp cumin seeds, a few curry leaves, and a pinch of asafoetida. Saute on low flame.
- Now add 1 onion, 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste and mix well. Then, add 1 tomato and saute till the tomato turns soft. Add ¼ tsp turmeric, 1 tsp chili powder, ½ tsp garam masala and salt as per taste on a low flame.
- Sauté for 2 minutes or till the aroma of spices comes out. Now add cooked rice and dal. Also, add 1 cup of water and masala as per requirement. Mix well. Cover and cook for 5 minutes or till the flavours are absorbed well.
- Finally, add 2 tbsp coriander leaves and enjoy dal khichdi with pickle and papad.
