To make the roti, add wheat flour, 1 tablespoon of oil, and salt to a bowl and knead into a soft dough using enough water. Choose to add or not add salt (this is optional). The salt is added to flavor the roti, as many people dislike their rotis tasting bland.
- Using the remaining 1/2 tbsp oil, knead the dough again until it becomes pliable and soft. Cover the dough and keep it aside for 15 to 20 minutes.
- Divide the dough into equal portions, then apply dry wheat flour to each portion of the dough and roll it out thinly with the help of a rolling pin.
- Heat a non-stick pan on high flame and once it is hot, gently place the roti on the pan.
- Cook till small spots appear on the upper layer, then flip the roti and cook for a few more seconds.
- Remove it from the pan and cook on an open flame with the help of tongs till it turns golden brown on both sides or puffs up. Take care that the roti does not burn.
- Repeat the same process to make rotis with the remaining dough. Finally, apply ghee on the roti and serve hot. You can serve it with any type of sabzi, curry, or dal.
