Ingredients:

1 cup chana dal

2-3 medium-sized chopped onions

2 medium-sized chopped tomatoes

1 inch of ginger

4-5 garlic cloves

2-3 green chilies

2 dried whole Kashmiri red chilies

2 tbsp curd

1 tsp cumin seeds

1/4 tsp asafoetida

1/4 tsp turmeric powder

1/2 tsp coriander powder

1/2 tsp red chili powder

1 tsp kasuri methi

Salt to taste

Water as needed

2-3 tbsp oil

Green coriander for garnishing


 Rajasthani Chana Dal Pyaz Ki Sabji


Instructions:

First of all, wash the chana dal with clean water and soak it for 2-3 hours.

Make a fine paste by adding 2 onions, 2 tomatoes, green chilies, ginger, garlic, and whole dried Kashmiri red chilies in a mixer jar.

Now boil 2 cups of water in a pan. Add salt and turmeric and mix. Drain the excess water from the soaked chana dal and add it to it. Now cover it and let it cook on a low flame for 15-20 minutes. After 20 minutes, turn off the gas.

Now, heat oil in a pan. Now add cumin seeds and asafoetida, and let it crackle.

Now add the ground masala, cover it, and let it cook for 2 minutes.

After this, add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and kasuri methi. Mix well and let it cook on a low flame.

When the oil starts separating from the masala, add curd and mix everything well.

Now add a roughly chopped onion and boiled chana dal to it. Mix everything well. Add salt as per your requirement because salt is added while boiling chana dal.

Now, finally add green coriander and garnish well. And there you go, Rajasthani chana dal and onion sabzi is ready. You can serve it with roti or paratha. You can also serve raita, papad and pickle with it.
