It's usually eaten during fasting days, but you can enjoy it any time you want. You don't have to fast. It's made by mixing boiled potatoes and water chestnut flour with some spices. It's then deep-fried and served hot with coconut chutney. So, let's learn the full recipe for Farali Patties or Farali Buff Vada.
Ingredients:
1 cup water chestnut flour
3-4 medium-sized boiled potatoes
2 tablespoons cashews
1 tablespoon raisins
1 tablespoon green chili and ginger paste
2-3 tablespoons sesame seeds
1 teaspoon fennel seeds
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1/2 teaspoon black salt
1 tablespoon powdered sugar
1/2 lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder
4 tablespoons desiccated coconut
1/4 cup roasted peanuts (coarsely ground)
2-3 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves
2-3 tablespoons pomegranate seeds
Oil for frying

First, mash the boiled potatoes thoroughly in a bowl. Now, add the cashews, raisins, green chili and ginger paste, sesame seeds, fennel seeds, cumin powder, salt, sugar, lemon juice, black pepper powder, desiccated coconut, peanut powder, coriander leaves, and pomegranate seeds and mix.
Now, add the water chestnut flour little by little and knead into a soft dough. Set aside for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, heat oil in a pan to fry the Buff Vadas.
Now form medium-sized balls from the mixture. Dip them in water chestnut flour and place them in the hot oil.
Fry the vadas until golden brown. Prepare all the vadas in this manner.
Finally, the Farali Patties/Buff Vadas are ready to serve. You can serve them with coconut chutney or peanut curry.
