Instructions

Brew and Chill the Coffee. Brew a cup of strong coffee and let it chill completely in the refrigerator. Cold brew concentrate works best—it delivers a bolder coffee flavor without diluting the milkshake.

Prepare the Glasses. For a stunning presentation, drizzle caramel sauce along the inside walls of the glasses. To keep the milkshake extra cold, place the glasses in the freezer for 10–20 minutes beforehand.

Blend. Add the chilled coffee, vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, milk, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt to a blender. Blend until smooth and creamy.

Adjust Consistency. If the milkshake seems too thick, add more coffee or milk, one tablespoon at a time, until it reaches your desired consistency. If you prefer it thicker, add more ice cream and blend again.

Serve and Garnish. Pour the milkshake into the two prepared glasses. Top with whipped cream and an extra drizzle of caramel sauce.

Tips and Variations

Salted Caramel Shake: For a salted caramel flavor, add ¼ teaspoon of salt to the mixture before blending. You can rim the glass with caramel and sprinkle it with coarse sea salt crystals.

For a stronger coffee flavor: Use cold brew concentrate—since it has a highly concentrated coffee flavor, you get an intense coffee taste without diluting the shake.

Mocha Caramel: To make a Caramel Mocha, add 1 tablespoon of chocolate syrup or cocoa powder to the blender.

Salted Caramel Banana: For a Banoffee-style shake, add half of a frozen, ripe banana.

Dairy-Free Shake: Use coconut-based ice cream and oat milk, and substitute store-bought caramel with homemade coconut caramel sauce.

Decaf Shake: Use decaffeinated coffee—this recipe works just as well with any type of coffee you prefer.

Storage

It is best enjoyed fresh. If you are preparing it in advance, store it in the freezer and give it a quick blend before serving.

Tips for Best Results:

Since cold brew coffee has a concentrated flavor, you get a stronger coffee taste without adding extra liquid, which means your milkshake remains wonderfully thick and creamy.

Add a pinch of salt to enhance the caramel flavor, and a dash of cinnamon to achieve that authentic coffee-shop taste.

For a beautiful caramel drizzle effect, freeze your glasses for at least 30 minutes beforehand until they are thoroughly chilled.

To thicken your milkshake, add more ice cream to the mixture, blend, check the consistency, and repeat if necessary.
