Instructions:

Make the Dark Chocolate Sauce: Pour the cream into a saucepan and place it over low-to-medium heat. Warm it gently—it should feel hot to the touch, but do not let it boil. Remove from the heat and pour into a heat-resistant bowl; then, add the chopped dark chocolate and stir until it has completely melted. Allow it to cool.

Blend: Add the chocolate ice cream, whole milk, dark chocolate chips (or chopped dark chocolate), unsweetened cocoa powder, and vanilla extract to a blender. Blend on high speed until smooth and creamy.

Serve: Tilt the glasses slightly and drizzle chocolate sauce along the inner rim of each glass, then evenly divide the chocolate shake among the glasses. Next, top with a swirl of whipped cream and a fresh cherry. For an extra treat, add a little more whipped cream on top and garnish with dark chocolate shavings.

Tips and Variations:

Ice Cream Choice: The best chocolate shakes are made using a combination of vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce, as this allows you to control the intensity of the chocolate flavor to your liking and ensures that your shake is packed with rich chocolate taste.

Consistency: To create a thicker milkshake, start with less milk initially and avoid over-blending—especially if you are using a high-powered blender. If the shake still isn't as thick as you desire, add more ice cream until it reaches your preferred consistency.

Enhancing Flavor: To further boost the chocolate flavor, add one tablespoon of chocolate syrup or chocolate sauce to the milkshake before blending. You can also add half a teaspoon of coffee powder to further accentuate the chocolate notes, which will also impart a subtle hint of coffee flavor to the shake.

Fun Mix-Ins: To make a Chocolate Peanut Butter Shake, add 1 tablespoon (a slightly heaping spoonful) of peanut butter before blending. To make a Chocolate Oreo Shake, blend in 3 Oreo cookies, and then crumble one additional Oreo over the finished shake.
