 Homemade Hot Chocolate Milkshake Recipe

Instructions:

Add all ingredients, except for the whipped cream, into a blender and blend until smooth.

Pour the milkshake into chilled glasses, then top with whipped cream and shaved or curled chocolate.

Serve immediately and enjoy!

Tips and Variations:

Choice of Milk: Chocolate milk works wonderfully in this recipe, but you can use any milk of your choice—2%, whole milk, chocolate almond milk, and half-and-half all taste delicious.

Hot Chocolate Mix: You can use a classic milk chocolate hot chocolate mix, or if you prefer, choose a fun flavored mix—such as salted caramel, white chocolate, or mint chocolate.

What Makes It Special: The powdered milk present in the hot chocolate mix, when combined with the ice cream, makes a huge difference in the flavor.

Cocoa Powder Alternative: If you don't have hot chocolate mix on hand, add 1/4 cup hot water, 6 tablespoons cocoa powder, and 3 tablespoons sugar to the blender; blend on low speed, then add the ice cream and a splash of milk.

Vegan Version: Use almond milk and vegan vanilla ice cream to create a completely plant-based shake. Storage: Frozen hot chocolate is best enjoyed immediately after preparation; however, if you have any leftovers that need to be stored, freeze them in an airtight container. When you wish to drink it again, simply blend it thoroughly once more.
