So today we have brought for you Satvik Khichdi (Satvik Khichdi Recipe) made in the ISKCON temple, which is made without garlic and onion. Ingredients:
1 cup rice
1/2 cup yellow moong dal
1 medium-sized potato, chopped into pieces
1 medium-sized tomato, finely chopped
1 medium-sized carrot, finely chopped
1 medium-sized capsicum, finely chopped
1/4 cup fresh green peas
1 bay leaf
5-6 black peppercorns
1 cinnamon stick
1 large cardamom
2 green cardamoms
1/2 tbsp coriander leaves
2-3 large cardamoms
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
A pinch of asafoetida
1 tsp red chilli powder
1/2 tsp coriander powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 tsp roasted cumin seeds powder
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves for garnishing
2-3 tbsp ghee

Instructions:
Firstly, dry-roast moong dal in a pan. Make sure it does not burn.
Now, wash moong dal and rice twice with clean water. Now add 1-2 glasses of water to it and soak it for 10-15 minutes.
Now, heat the ghee in a large vessel. Add all the dry spices (bay leaves, cloves, black pepper, coriander, cinnamon, big cardamom, green cardamom) and fry.
Now add cumin seeds and asafoetida. Now add chopped vegetables (potatoes, peas, carrots, capsicum, tomatoes) and mix well.
Now cover all the vegetables well and let it cook for 10-12 minutes.
Now add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, cumin powder and mix well. Then cover and cook for 2 more minutes.
Now add salt as per taste and mix. Now add 2 cups of water and let it boil. Here you can increase or decrease its quantity according to your need.
Now add dal and rice, cover and cook on low-medium flame for 12-15 minutes. Sprinkle freshly chopped coriander on top. Keep stirring it in between so that it does not stick to the bottom.
Turn off the gas after 15 minutes. And add 1-2 tablespoons of ghee to it.
There you go, ISKCON's satvik and delicious khichdi is ready. Serve it hot.
